MAKING A BETTER TODAY & TOMORROW
According to the World Economic Forum, since 2014 extreme weather events have been the first or second global risk in terms of likelihood, and water crises have been in the top five in terms of impact (WEF, 2019).
The planet’s capacity to sustain the growing demands for freshwater is being challenged, and there can be no sustainable development unless the balance between demand and supply is restored.

Water may become a more significant source of contention than energy or minerals out to 2030 at both the intrastate and interstate levels.

CLIMATE CHANGE:
EXTREME WEATHER EVENTS, NO.1 OR 2 POSSIBLE GLOBLE RISK
Frequency and magnitude of extreme weather events such as extreme drought, wildfire, unprecedented rainfalls, soil erosion, mudslides, extreme freezing and snowstorm surge events is increasing during the past years. Hundreds of millions of people around the world have experienced these disasters, which are similar to those in Hollywood movies, and suffered heavy losses. Climate change greatly impacts food security, human health, urban and rural settlements, energy production, industrial development, economic growth, and ecosystems which are all water-dependent. Climate change adaptation and mitigation through water management is therefore critical to sustainable development.
DROUGHT AND DESERTIFICATION:
THE MOST DESTRUCTIVE NATURAL/MAN-MADE DISASTERS
We can not live on planet Earth without drinkable water. History tells us that drought and desertification have been driving hundreds million people to the brink of ruin annually. Water plays a key role in issues such as food security, energy production, economic development and poverty reduction. We must find more measurements to obtain water, stop the desertification of our lands and mitigate the effects of drought to our best, also leave behind a world that future generations can live in. W&ECF renews the understanding and definition of water resources, develops sustainable approaches to prevent desertification and drought.
FLOODS:
LED TO COUNTLESS DISASTERS THROUGHOUT HISTORY
Floods, among the most terrifying forces on Earth, are one of the most common hazards, and they can give rise to natural disasters such as soil erosion and mudslides in mountain areas. Extreme floods often occur before or after extreme droughts and are also one of the main manifestations of climate change. Even in arid areas such as deserts, the limited rainwater is often characterized by concentrated heavy rainfall, forming floods. Although floods were short-lived, they left a lot of damage and took away precious water. W&ECF has created the strategic plan to use rainwater as a resource and limit flood disasters.
